Hen party in the Ethnocentre

In the old Polish days, hen party was called "rózgowiny" or "virgin evening". The event took place shortly before the wedding. It usually took place at the house of the future bride, often on the night before the wedding.

We encourage you to celebrate the atmosphere of integration, femininity and togetherness during the hen party in the Ethnocentre of the Krosno Region. We will take you on a modern journey into tradition, in a selected option:

  1. A room with a stove - wedding cake (kalach), (2.5 hours), PLN 40 / person

"A good hostess does wonders in the kitchen."

It's time to see if the bride will be a good hostess. You'll be able to bake your own wedding cake (kalach).

In the old days, such a yeast cake made of wheat flour was a sign of success for a married couple. If the cake rose beautifully and the crust blushed, the spouse would lead a long, happy life, and if it came out doughy, it spelt marital problems.

Fiona, a certified housewife, will help you bake a perfect cake. "To make the meeting even more pleasant for you, we will prepare sandwiches and lemonade - important elements of old hen meetings".

Then we move to the multimedia zone, where we'll find activities such as a virtual fitting room with folk costumes from different regions, interactive games, karaoke, a ride in a carriage and many more.

  1. Handcraft workshop - Wedding rod and wreath plaiting (2.5 hours), PLN 35 / person

During the hen party, a bride would adorn a wedding rod, e.g. a stick decorated with ribbons and tissue paper ornaments. Rod - a symbol of masculinity, was in the hands of the staroste (an equivalent of modern best man), then the groom had to buy it.

The bride's task will be to decorate the rod with different ornaments. Each of the participants will weave a wreath for themselves. A woman with the prettiest one will get married next.

  1. Weaving workshops - evening with a tapestry, (2.5 hours), 35 PLN / person

"A good wife cooks what her husband likes" 😊

A tapestry is a type of picture, usually embroidered, created from a combination of a symbolic drawing and a written text. It was supposed to symbolise the purity and sense of beauty of the hostess, but also to be a form of educational decoration.

In the group, you will design a tapestry for the bride and housewife with a sentence you invent yourself.
